You & Me Maldives, opened in 2019 as part of the Cocoon Collection, is an adults-only island in the northern reaches of Raa Atoll, about 45 minutes by seaplane from Male. Its 109 villas, 99 of them overwater and the rest on the beach, are dressed in a rustic, wood-and-thatch style with African-inspired touches, a deliberate contrast to the glassy minimalism of many newer resorts. Nearly every category above entry level has a private pool, which is rarer than it sounds at this end of the market.
Two things set it apart. The first is H2O, a fully submerged restaurant six metres under the lagoon overseen by Michelin-starred chef Andrea Berton, and one of the most sought-after tables in the Maldives; book it, ideally a dinner seating, at the same time as your room. The second is the Dine Around concept: there is no buffet anywhere on the island, and guests on half board and above eat a la carte across restaurants including the main venue The Sand, the Japanese Rising Sun and beachside La Pasta. The overwater spa by Elizabeth Arden, with glass floor panels over the lagoon, rounds out the romance.
It is not flawless. The house reef is a weak point, with a wide, shallow lagoon meaning the best marine life sits a long swim out, so keen snorkellers should temper expectations or plan guided trips to Raa’s stronger sites. And for an adults-only resort it is unusually sociable, with live music, DJ nights and beach cinema, which couples chasing total silence should weigh. But for honeymooners who want genuine dining variety, plunge pools across most villas and more evening life than the average quiet-luxury island, it is strong value.
