The best family hotels in Orlando, at the luxury end, come down to eight: Four Seasons Resort Orlando, Waldorf Astoria Orlando, Evermore Orlando Resort, Conrad Orlando, The Ritz-Carlton Orlando and JW Marriott Orlando at Grande Lakes, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel and Universal Helios Grand Hotel. They separate on four things: whether the kids club is free, how serious the water park is, how many bedrooms you can buy under one roof, and which park gate you skip the queue at. Details come from each resort’s published programming as of September 2026; confirm fees and hours when booking.

The best Orlando hotels for families doing Disney
Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort
On 26 acres inside Walt Disney World at 10100 Dream Tree Boulevard, this is the category benchmark: AAA Five Diamond, and U.S. News & World Report’s number one hotel in Walt Disney World for 12 consecutive years. It wins family bookings on Kids For All Seasons, a complimentary supervised camp for ages 4 to 12 running a full day, every day, from the kids club at Explorer Island. Paid evening cover is available, and the Saturday Explorer Island Takeover keeps children from 5.00pm to 9.00pm.
Explorer Island is a heated five-acre water park: a lazy river with a rapids section, two slides, a splash zone with water cannons and a zero-entry family pool showing dive-in movies. Teenagers get The Hideout, with virtual reality and multi-player PAC-MAN. Adults get Oasis, an infinity-edge pool for guests 21 and over, an 18-treatment-room spa, golf and tennis. Capa, the rooftop steakhouse with sightlines to the Disney fireworks, and Ravello both carry Michelin listings. There is a twice-weekly Goofy character breakfast and complimentary park transport. See also how Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton differ.
Waldorf Astoria Orlando
At 14200 Bonnet Creek Resort Lane, the Waldorf is the pick when the plan is parks, parks, parks. As an Official Walt Disney World Hotel it gets 30-minute early entry into any Disney park daily, Lightning Lane selections from 7.00am three days before arrival, and motorcoach transport to all four parks and Disney Springs. It is a Forbes Four-Star resort, recently renovated. WA Kids Club takes ages 5 to 12 and is charged: morning or afternoon sessions at 50 US dollars for one child, 40 for the second, 30 for each additional child sharing. Astoria After Dark runs Friday and Saturday.
The Waldorf’s own deck is the quieter one, with two pools, a zero-entry section for small children and the Aquamarine pool bar. The real family water complex is next door at Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, which Waldorf guests may use: a lazy river, a lagoon-style zero-entry pool and a waterslide needing 48 inches to ride alone or 40 inches in a life jacket. Family Suites run to 1,460 square feet with a king bedroom and a queen sleeper sofa, and a Corner Family Room with two queens covers smaller parties.
Evermore Orlando Resort
Evermore, at 1590 Evermore Way and adjacent to Walt Disney World, is the answer when hotel rooms stop making sense. It sells houses of five to 11 bedrooms, four-bedroom Flats and two and four-bedroom Cypress Villas, all with access to Evermore Bay: eight acres of clear water inside 20 acres of white sand beach, open to overnight guests only. Kayaks and paddleboards sit inside the All In One Fee.
Read the Bay rules first. Lifeguards cover the Family Waterslide Pool and the Blue Hole high jump during opening hours only; the rest of the Bay is swim at your own risk and under-14s need an adult present. The four-person slide needs 48 inches to ride alone, or 40 inches with a life jacket and a parent. Elsewhere there are three pools, a Pirate Ship Playground, an arcade, pickleball and two golf courses, including the Links, a Jack Nicklaus design drawn from the Old Course. This is luxury travellers choosing villas over hotels at resort scale.
Conrad Orlando
Conrad Orlando is the hotel inside Evermore, on the north shore of the lagoon, for families who want the beach without renting a house. It holds both Forbes Four-Star and AAA Five Diamond ratings, and Conrad Spa Orlando has its own Forbes Four-Star award. Ask for the Family Suites, with bunk beds. It is the cleanest compromise for three generations: grandparents in the hotel, the rest in a house nearby, a pattern we see in multigenerational luxury travel.
Grande Lakes, for the most serious water park
Grande Lakes is 500 acres off Central Florida Parkway shared by two hotels. It is not on Disney or Universal land, so park days mean a car or a transfer. In exchange you get the biggest hotel water park in luxury Orlando, a working farm, Whisper Creek Farm, supplying the restaurants, and a Greg Norman golf course that hosts the PNC Championship. The Headwaters Slide Tower has three heated slides: The Chute (48 inches, single riders only), The Rapids (42 inches, into a vortex funnel) and The Current (40 inches, light sensory). The lazy river runs a quarter of a mile and Splash Cove is a zero-entry cove for toddlers. The river opens at 8.00am but the slides run only 10.00am to 5.30pm.
The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes
The Ritz is the adult half of the estate that happens to be very good with children: AAA Five Diamond, one Michelin Key, a three-floor spa with 40 treatment rooms, Family Cabanas for up to eight at the pool, and a Michelin-recommended steakhouse from chef John Tesar. Grande Lakes Sports adds kayaking on the headwaters of the Florida Everglades, falconry and mountain biking.
Ritz Kids takes ages 4 to 12 around four pillars of nature, exploration, responsibility and culture. Unlike the Four Seasons club it is charged and needs booking 24 hours ahead: a full day from 10.00am to 4.00pm including lunch, or half days. Kids Night Out runs Friday and Saturday evenings with dinner, and a free morning open house lets you look first.
JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes
The JW is the better-value half of the same 500 acres, with 1,010 rooms and the same water park, farm and golf. What makes it a recommendation rather than a cheaper alternative is its 15 family suites, designed for the job rather than adapted to it: two and three-bedroom layouts with bunk beds for children, a king for the adults, a connecting king room and a separate living room. The two-bedroom version runs 1,286 square feet with three bathrooms, and the in-room kit is matched to your children’s ages. Primo, led by chef Melissa Kelly, is Michelin Recommended and Forbes Four-Star.
Best Orlando hotels for families doing Universal
Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando Resort
At 5601 Universal Boulevard, Portofino Bay has 750 rooms including 45 suites, three themed pools, one fed by a large Roman aqueduct slide, a supervised children’s activity centre and eight restaurants and lounges. The harbour piazza is what children remember: Italian cars and scooters parked up, live music and gelato. The reason to book it is Universal Express Unlimited, included for guests and loaded into your account at check-in. The limit matters: it covers Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure only, not Volcano Bay and not Epic Universe.
Universal Helios Grand Hotel
Helios Grand is the newest of the group, at 8505 S. Kirkman Road, with 500 rooms including 35 suites. It sits at the end of Celestial Park with its own dedicated entrance into Epic Universe, which is the whole proposition: on an Epic Universe day you walk from the lobby to the gate. Loews lists theme park benefits and complimentary transport, but the Express Unlimited perk at Portofino Bay does not extend to Epic Universe. Facilities are lighter here: a resort-style pool, a games room, a three-meal restaurant and a rooftop bar. No kids club, no pets.
How to choose between them
- Childcare included: Four Seasons is the only one with a free full-day club. Ritz Kids and WA Kids Club are charged.
- Park days above all: Waldorf Astoria for Disney, Portofino Bay for the two original Universal parks, Helios Grand for Epic Universe.
- A resort holiday with a park day attached: Grande Lakes or Evermore, both a drive from the gates.
- Eight people or more: Evermore houses, the Grande Lakes residences, then the JW family suites. Teenagers do best at Four Seasons or Evermore.
- Price level: Four Seasons and the Ritz at the top, the Waldorf and Conrad below, the JW lowest. Evermore is priced per house, so it often wins past six people.
When to go, and what the weather does
Water is the product in Orlando, so the season matters more than elsewhere. Summer afternoons bring near-daily thunderstorms and lightning closes open water: Evermore pulls paddleboards ashore at 15 miles and clears the Bay at six, so plan water mornings and park afternoons in July and August. In January and February heating decides it, and both the Headwaters slides and Explorer Island are heated. For the autumn window, see our luxury family hotels for October half term.
Frequently asked questions
Which Orlando hotel has the best kids club?
Four Seasons Resort Orlando: Kids For All Seasons is complimentary, runs a full day for ages 4 to 12 and operates daily from Explorer Island. Ritz Kids at Grande Lakes is the closest rival, with a Kids Night Out at weekends, but it is charged and needs booking a day ahead. WA Kids Club at the Waldorf takes ages 5 to 12 in morning or afternoon sessions and is also charged.
Which luxury Orlando hotels have their own water park?
Three, in effect. Grande Lakes Waterpark, shared by the Ritz-Carlton and the JW Marriott, is the largest, with a three-slide heated tower and a quarter-mile lazy river, and Explorer Island at Four Seasons is a heated five-acre park. Evermore Bay is an eight-acre swimmable lagoon, while Waldorf guests can use the lazy river and slide at the adjacent Signia by Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek.
Do any luxury Orlando hotels get Disney early entry?
Waldorf Astoria Orlando does, as an Official Walt Disney World Hotel: 30 minutes of early entry into any Disney park daily, plus Lightning Lane selections from 7.00am three days ahead and motorcoach transport to the four parks and Disney Springs. Four Seasons Resort Orlando sits on Walt Disney World land with complimentary park transport and a Disney Planning Centre. Confirm the benefits when booking, as Disney revises them.
Does Universal Express Unlimited cover Epic Universe?
No. It is included for guests of Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and Loews Royal Pacific Resort and loaded into your Universal account at check-in, but it is not valid at Volcano Bay or Epic Universe. Universal Helios Grand Hotel instead has its own dedicated entrance into Epic Universe, which is a different benefit.
Which Orlando hotel is best for a large multigenerational group?
Evermore Orlando Resort, because it sells whole houses of five to 11 bedrooms with full resort service attached, and Conrad Orlando is on the same site for anyone who would rather have a hotel room. Grande Lakes is the alternative, with two-storey residences of three and four bedrooms that have private pools. For six or so, the JW Marriott’s family suites are cheapest.
