Dreams Las Mareas sits on Playa El Jobo, a crescent of sand in Costa Rica’s far northwest that takes about an hour and a half to reach from Liberia airport, and the drive filters out the crowds. What waits is a 447-suite all-inclusive run on the Unlimited-Luxury system: no wristbands, no dinner reservations, no bill for the top-shelf pour or the 24-hour room service. It is the rare resort formula that removes friction rather than adding rules.
Suites start around 500 square feet with furnished balconies facing jungle, mountain or Pacific; Preferred Club buys swim-out access, balcony hot tubs and a quieter lounge. Three pools split the audience neatly, a waterslide and swim-up bar on the family side and an adults-only pool for everyone else, while the Explorer’s Club keeps three-to-twelves busy and the Core Zone absorbs teenagers. Eight restaurants rotate from Portofino’s handmade pasta to Himitsu’s Asian fusion and Oceana’s seafood, with the World Cafe buffet strongest at breakfast.
The honest caveats: the beach turns rocky at low tide and is better for walking than swimming, afternoon winds can whip across the point, and the drive to marquee excursions like Arenal is long. Set against that are capuchin monkeys in the trees, a Pevonia spa with a proper hydrotherapy circuit and service with genuine warmth. As Guanacaste all-inclusives go, this is one of the easier ones to recommend.
