Karma Nosara Review

A striking private Nosara retreat where panoramic Pacific views, two pools and generous indoor-outdoor living make it particularly compelling for families, groups and wellness escapes.

Overview

Karma Nosara is not a traditional resort. Instead, it is a large private residence designed around the kind of Costa Rican trip where families, friends or retreat groups want to stay together rather than occupy separate hotel rooms.

The full property offers seven bedrooms across two levels and can accommodate up to 19 guests. Nirvana forms the upper level while Oasis occupies the main floor, and the two sections can also be rented separately for smaller groups.

The setting is the main event. Open-air terraces, mature tropical vegetation and panoramic views towards the Pacific create the sense of being immersed in the Nosara landscape. The infinity pool is positioned directly towards the ocean, while a second pool gives larger groups more space to spread out.

Rather than restaurants and traditional hotel room service, the property is built around private living. There are gourmet kitchens, outdoor cooking facilities and large communal dining areas, making it particularly appealing if you plan to cook together or arrange a private chef.

Nosara itself adds much of the appeal. Playa Guiones is one of Costa Rica’s best-known surf destinations, while yoga, beaches and jungle adventures make the area especially strong for active and wellness-focused trips.

Karma Nosara therefore makes most sense when judged as a private luxury retreat rather than a conventional hotel. For a couple travelling alone, it would be excessive. For a large group looking for privacy, ocean views and a base for experiencing Nosara together, the concept becomes much more compelling.

Rooms & Suites

When rented in full, Karma Nosara offers seven bedrooms across two levels, including multiple ocean-facing master bedrooms and a bunk room. Many rooms open towards terraces, jungle views or the pool areas, while the entire villa can accommodate up to 19 guests.

Dining

This is primarily a self-catering private-villa experience rather than a hotel with multiple restaurants. Guests have access to a full gourmet kitchen, outdoor barbecue, wine cooler and generous indoor-outdoor dining areas, making the property particularly well suited to private chefs and group meals.

Location

Spend the morning surfing at Playa Guiones, explore nearby Playa Pelada and Nosara Beach, then return to the villa for sunset over the Pacific. Yoga, horseback riding, zip-lining and other outdoor adventures are also readily accessible around Nosara.

Set the scene.

Karma Nosara is less a traditional hotel and more a private tropical residence built for groups. The property combines contemporary architecture with open-air living spaces, jungle surroundings and panoramic views towards the Pacific, creating a retreat that feels both secluded and highly social.

Anything to say about the service?

The experience is much more private and independent than a traditional luxury hotel. The appeal lies in having the space largely to yourself, with the property designed for families, friends, retreats and private events rather than full-service resort living.

Who stays here?

Karma Nosara is best for families, groups of friends, surf trips, wellness retreats and guests celebrating together. It makes particular sense when you want privacy and communal space rather than separate hotel rooms.

Anything we missed?

The property can be rented as one complete residence or divided into the Nirvana upper level and Oasis main level. Across the full estate there are two outdoor pools, extensive terraces, gourmet kitchens, outdoor dining areas and space designed specifically for group retreats.

Is it worth it—and why?

Yes, for the right kind of trip. Karma Nosara makes most sense when its cost is shared across a larger family or group, giving you private pools, generous living spaces and dramatic ocean views without the compromises of a conventional resort.
