Freehold is the Monmouth County seat, horse country with a raceway, a famous native son and a busy retail strip along Route 9, and the Radisson at 50 Gibson Place is its main full-service hotel. iPlay America’s indoor park is minutes away, the Freehold Raceway Mall slightly further, Six Flags Great Adventure about twenty-five minutes south, and the Jersey Shore half an hour east.
The 121 rooms are honest motel-plus: clean, decently sized, air conditioned and equipped with the desk and coffee maker you expect, nothing more. A bar and grill on site saves a drive after a park day, there is a small gym, and meeting rooms keep local business ticking through the week. Rooms away from the road sleep quieter.
We will not oversell it, and neither should anyone else: this is a utility stay priced like one. But for a family doing Six Flags, a mall weekend or a tournament at the county’s sports complexes, it is exactly the bed required, and downtown Freehold, ten minutes away, supplies the character the hotel does not. Demand peaks on summer Saturdays and tournament weekends, when everything from here to the shore sells out; midweek, the rate is about as fair as New Jersey gets.
