One block from Monument Circle, the Hilton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites occupies the kind of address that makes a downtown work: the Indiana Convention Center, Gainbridge Fieldhouse and the Circle Centre mall are all within a five-minute walk, and Lucas Oil Stadium about ten. For conventions, Pacers and Colts weekends, or a May race week, you can do the whole trip on foot from the front door.
Set the record straight on size: this is a manageable tower of around 330 rooms and suites, not the convention monster some listings suggest, and it is better for it. Rooms are classic full-service Hilton, comfortable and quiet, with upper floors catching views over the Circle’s monuments and the skyline. An indoor pool and a decent fitness room cover the basics, and the suites give families and long-stayers genuine space.
McCormick & Schmick’s does seafood and steaks at street level, useful on nights when convention crowds swamp everywhere else, though Indianapolis eating has long outgrown its steak-and-potatoes reputation and Mass Ave’s restaurants are a short ride away. It is not a headline hotel, and it does not price like one, even when the convention calendar squeezes the whole city. As a walk-everywhere downtown base, we struggle to name a better-placed one.
