She has slept in more than 700 hotel rooms across 60 countries and maintains the 200-point inspection that underpins every review we publish. Her specialist subjects are grand European hotels and the small details that betray them: the state of the back corridor, the temperature of the breakfast butter, whether the doorman remembers a name after one meeting. She scores hardest on service consistency. Based in London.
Daniel Okafor
Daniel came to hotels from a decade of restaurant criticism, which is why food and drink carries real weight in our scores. He covers the Americas and city hotels worldwide, and holds that room service at midnight is the truest test of a hotel kitchen. Before journalism he spent two years on the front desk of a Mayfair five-star, an education no press trip can replace. He scores hardest on kitchens that coast after ten o’clock. Based in New York.
Priya Nair
Priya has covered hotels and travel from Singapore for twelve years, four of them as a contributing editor on a regional luxury monthly. She reviews the resorts: Maldivian atolls, Rajasthani palaces and the barefoot islands where the spa programme matters as much as the suite. She dives, so overwater villas get checked below the waterline as well as above it, and she is our resident sceptic on wellness claims that arrive without evidence. She scores hardest on spas.
